Questions Answered

We get asked a lot of questions.Hopefully you will find an answer here to your query, but if you don't, just contact us by using the contact form here, or ring us on 01202 574584.

What are the external dimensions of the Huts? You can find the dimensions of the Big Hut here and the Small Hut here.

Do the Huts need planning permission? In most cases you should not need planning permission for your Hut as long as it is located at least 5m away from the house and is not closer to any highway than the house itself, or any point 20m from that highway.

However, there are certain circumstances where planning permission is likely to be required, for example if you live in a conservation area, own a listed building or live in a flat . We do ask all clients to check with their local planning authority prior to placing an order with us. Should you require a plan of the Big Hut you can download one here. We will be placing a plan of the Small Hut online soon.

Do I need a need a base for the Hut to stand on? Yes. Hut Garden Studios require a solid level concrete base. Dimensions: Big Hut 4800mm x 2640mm x 125mm deep. Small Hut:2600mm x  2220mm x 125mm deep This should be laid on top of 75mm depth of compacted hardcore. The base is supplied by the client.

Can I have a different colour? The Hut comes externally clad with pressure treated timber which needs no exterior finish. The windows, doors and roof detail are finished with Sadolin Superdec opaque woodstain. You can choose any colour from their range, which can be seen on their site here. After completion, you can of course paint your hut with any colour woodstain of your choosing!

Is there a charge for delivery? We can deliver to most parts of England. The standard delivery charge is £250.00.

Do I have to get my own electrician? Electrical sockets, wiring and lighting are not supplied with Hut Garden Studios. We recommend you use a qualified electrician to fit these to your Hut, and to connect the Hut to the mains electrical supply from your house.

How do I heat my Hut? The Hut is very well insulated and can easily be heated with one portable or wall fitted eletric radiator.

How long does it take to erect? The Hut normally takes three to five days to erect depending on the size of the Hut.

How do I pay for a Hut ? We require a 50% deposit to confirm your order. The balance to be paid on day of completion.

Do you make buildings in other sizes? Yes, other sizes are available to order. Contact us here with your requirements.
